Puppies can often feel overwhelmed on their first visit to the grooming salon. Here at MillionHairs we offer puppy packages to gently introduce your puppy to the sights, smells and sounds of the grooming salon. We interact with your puppy to make grooming an enjoyable experience.
Puppies can visit the salon after they have received their second set of vaccinations. As most dogs will need regular grooming for their entire life it is advised that they visit as young as possible. This early experience at the groomers can help make them regard the groomers as a happy, relaxing place to visit.
Visits to us start as short introduction appointments progressing to longer appointments until they are ready to start their full adult grooms.
MillionHairs offer free familiarisation visits for puppies, up to 16 weeks old, that last around 10-15 minutes. During this session, they will be introduced to the smells and sounds of the salon and have lots of cuddles.
For puppies, up to 16 weeks old, their first visit is free as an introduction. This session will be 1 hour. During their appointment, they will receive a warm hydrobath, a gentle blow dry and brush out, nails trimmed and ears cleaned/plucked (depending on your puppy’s co-operation).
The follow-on sessions may also include a trim and tidy up depending on the confidence of your puppy. It is not advised to clip your puppy’s coat until around 9 months when their adult coat has developed as clipping too soon can damage the coat. However, they should experience the sound and sensation of the clippers during these visits.
It generally takes around 3 sessions for your puppy to become familiarised with the grooming.
There must be no longer than 4 weeks in between sessions for the puppy plan.
